Mathilde shoots, scores, and dances.
This week, Mathilde, Queen of the Belgians, visited Ivory Coast. Just like our own Máxima, the Queen is a special advocate for the United Nations. In that role, she has been at her most stylish, sporty and involved in the West African country in recent days.
Mathilde in Ivory Coast
We’ve said it before: charity is like royalty. For example, Máxima has just returned from her UN trip to Colombia, Harry and Meghan have all kinds of important events on their agenda again, and the Windsors are stepping up en masse to attend all royal engagements now that Charles, Kate, and Camilla are not present for a while. are available.
Mathilde has been working for the UN for the Sustainable Development Goals for many years, and this role brought her to Ivory Coast. Here she talked to locals about health, gender equality, and education.
Busy schedule
The Queen arrived at Abidjan airport on Sunday evening, where Nialé Kaba, the Minister of Planning and Development, welcomed her. The visit really started the next day. Mathilde visited a hospital for mothers and children, where she spoke with both the doctors and some patients. After this, a visit to a shelter center was on the agenda, where girls can go who have become victims of, for example, human trafficking or exploitation.

For this first set of visits, the Belgian queen was dressed in a summery pink dress by Oscar de la Renta, which she has worn before. Cheerful, colorful and stylish: that’s how we like it!
Sporty day
Yesterday the day started with a visit to a local school, where Mathilde happily took a seat among the local youth.

Mathilde then moved on to the coastal town of Lahou-Kpanda. Here the queen entered into discussions with the local fishing community, and was also provided with a colorful new outfit:

Fortunately, combining prints is completely on trend, and the combination of the Ba&Sh dress with this orange dress looks great on Mathilde, we have to give her that.
Then it was time for Mathilde to show her sporty best in the San Pedro stadium. Mathilde may not be a born football player, but she still knows how to score a goal.

Then it is of course time to celebrate the goals in style: precisely, with a dance.

Learning the dance steps doesn’t seem to go completely smoothly either, but oh well. You can’t be good at everything, nun?
Today is the last day of the visit, and a visit to a cocoa plantation is on the agenda. Then it is time to fly home. The Queen cannot rest there for very long, because next Friday she is already planning to visit an exhibition in the Center for Fine Arts. That Mathilde is busy!
