Barry Keoghan (31) is currently the rising star in Hollywood. He is currently delighting audiences with his performance in the disturbing thriller “Saltburn.” Last year he made his big breakthrough in the film industry with “The Banshees of Inisherin”. But that almost didn’t happen – director Martin McDonagh was afraid that Barry dies in hospital before filming begins!
The actor was battling necrotizing fasciitis at the time. This is a rare, flesh-eating skin disease – which is often fatal! Barry I probably almost lost his arm. “I went to the hospital and thought, ‘Shit – is he going to die?'” Martin tells GQ of his visit the weekend before filming began. But he was impressed by Barry’s Nonchalance: “He said to me: ‘It’ll be okay, we’ll see you on Tuesday!'”
He was able to keep his arm and on top of that he was nominated for an Oscar. The Irishman is probably just a lucky guy. Barry also owes his successful role in “Saltburn” to a pinch of luck: the director originally imagined Timothée Chalamet (28) alongside Jacob Elordi (26).
