The 79-year-old actually owes his abstinence to a funny coincidence, as he reports to Fox News. When he was young, he accidentally walked into an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. “There were a lot of people outside. We thought it was a party so we rushed in. I had a case of beer, three bottles of wine and half a glass of whiskey. I was already pumped full of pills.” Later, when Danny was completely drunk, he realized that he needed help. With the help of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, the screen villain finally managed to overcome his addictions.
In an earlier interview with Mirror, the “Clerks 3” actor said that he didn’t expect to survive the ’60s because of his checkered past: “I remember people asking me what I thought of it new millennium and I said, ‘I don’t give a damn, I should have been dead long ago.'”
