There’s a good chance that you remember the hostage situation in the Apple Store in Amsterdam. At the end of February 2022, the whole country was completely captivated by the store on Leidseplein. A very intense event in the history of our capital, about which a documentary will soon be released on AT5 and Videoland. And in this documentary you will also see very unique bodycam images, which bring you even closer to the event.

Are you crazy about all things crime? Then you definitely want to see the documentary about the hostage situation in the Apple Store in Amsterdam. You probably remember the violent events from February 2022, when customers and employees were taken hostage in the store. A documentary has now been made about this by Roos Gerritsen and this special documentary will soon appear on the local TV channel AT5 and streaming service Videoland.
Bodycam footage
In the documentary we see a reconstruction of the hostage situation in the heart of Amsterdam and the viewer is drawn even more into the story. This is thanks to unique bodycam images and sound recordings that AT5 obtained. Videoland’s press release states: “From minute to minute you are close to the skin of those involved.” Wow, interesting!
The makers of the documentary have been working on the film for a year, but they still show a “oppressive documentary”. Not only will you see images of the hostage situation, you will also hear stories from the police, Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and victims. In addition to Roos, Ilonka Klok worked as producer and Frank Eisma and Menko Arends as editors.
When to see?
There is a good chance that the documentary about the hostage situation in the Apple Store will generate many reactions and leave an impression. The director is also aware of this. “I had never seen anything like this before,” Roos tells AT5. “I got a completely different picture of what happened that evening. I included that in the documentary.” By the way, it is not the first film to be made about the violent events in Amsterdam. Netflix has also announced a film about the hostage situation in the Apple Store. This will be a dramatized reconstruction including roles for Loes Haverkort and Louis Talpe.
