Meet Xenia: the princess who doesn’t care about everything.
A royal in Playboy? We didn’t expect to ever experience that again. Yet it is really the Princess of Saxony who graces the magazine’s latest cover. An action with which Xenia Florence Gabriela Sophie Iris, as the German princess is called, writes history.
Special life story
Although Germany is no longer a monarchy, there are still many noble figures in our neighboring country. This also applies to Xenia Florence Gabriela Sophie Iris (one person, just to be clear). She was born in Düsseldorf as the great-grandchild of the last king of Saxony, Friedrich August III. Xenia likes to call herself a princess for that reason, but she does not care for anything that smells even a little bit like nobility. And given her life story, that is perhaps not so surprising.
Xenia claims that she was abused by her father when she was seven, and at the age of ten she developed a bone tumor on her head that could only be removed years later. The fact that she spoke the legendary words “You won’t hear me say that being a princess means anything” does not come entirely out of the blue.
Playboy
Anyway: Xenia is now 37 years old, and so far she has dealt with everything except royal duties. She became the mother of son Taro (whom she had with an acrobat who of course had nothing to do with nobility), appeared in all kinds of reality shows, and has now made her appearance in Playboy. On the cover, that is.

“You have certainly never seen the great-granddaughter of the last king of Saxony like this,” the magazine writes. And indeed: it is a very spicy snapshot of the princess. Not that we are used to anything different from Playboy, of course, but it is still strange to see a naked royal on the cover of a magazine.
Xenia’s goal
What does Xenia want to achieve with her appearance in the magazine? Showing that “every woman is beautiful just the way she is”, as she says. We wonder whether that was successful, but the princess herself certainly looks beautiful in it. By the way, she thinks her great-great-grandfather would feel the same way. “I feel a special bond with him,” she says in the magazine.
