We never expected this.
We know from Máxima that she likes to browse in designer stores. Yet it is not just very expensive haute couture that hangs in her closet. The queen buys her tights from a store we all visit regularly!
Mandatory tights
In the past, it was an absolute faux pas for female royals not to wear tights under a dress or skirt. That time is now over: royal ladies are showing off their legs in 2024 – and rightly so, we think at the Glamial editorial team. Sometimes an outfit just looks a little better without tights.
HEMA
Although etiquette absolutely does not require Máxima to wear pantyhose, we know that she does so regularly. The queen especially can’t get enough of skin-colored tights. Skin-colored items can have a tendency to create a strange look, but with Máx it always seems to go well. So you would think that she orders her tights from some designer who specializes in tights, but guess what? They just come from HEMA!

Panty rules
Josine Droogendijk of Fashion Queen Máxima was able to catch a glimpse of the queen’s packaged tights during a royal event and discovered that, like us, she does not pay more than ten euros for a pair. This usually concerns skin-colored tights, but Petra from Fashion Queen Máxima notes that Máx also has black ones in her closet. She explains again in detail what the panty rules are like.
“The rule for legwear is simple: if it’s summer upstairs, it’s also summer downstairs. And vice versa: if it is winter below, then it is also winter above. With a sleeveless dress with a deep neckline, you should not wear black tights or black thick tights. There are more possibilities with thin black tights, but here too the ‘seasons’ must be kept in mind.”
Good to keep in mind the next time you go to HEMA to buy a pair of Máxima-worthy tights.
