Congratulations!
Three cheers for Prince Louis! The youngest member of Prince Willem and Princess Kate is celebrating his sixth birthday today. The little prince was born on April 23, 2018 in St. Mary’s hospital in London. We happen to know that it was a festive day that started a while ago. Kate has a very cute tradition with her offspring’s birthdays that start in the middle of the night.
Festive tradition
We all do it sometimes: congratulate a loved one on their birthday at midnight. Of course we want to be the first. This sweet gesture is also a tradition within Kate and William’s family. In Mary Berry’s program A Berry Royal Christmas, the princess said that she has made it a habit to ring in the children’s birthdays at the stroke of midnight.
But it doesn’t stop at kissing the kids a happy birthday, because traditionally the princess serves a real homemade cake. Not a cake from a nice British bakery, because she makes it from scratch with all the love.”I love baking cakes. It’s become a tradition that I’m in the kitchen until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and frosting and I make way too much. But I love it,” the princess said in the program. After an evening of toiling in the kitchen, it’s time to party. So tonight it was Prince Louis’ turn to count down until the clock struck twelve. That’s nice to stay up late for birthday boy Job!
From the archives
In honor of Louis’ birthday, we delved into the archives and collected the cutest snapshots of the little prince. The mischievous little guy has a character that regularly puts him in the spotlight, and we really enjoy that. If he doesn’t like something, his face speaks volumes. When Kate tries to correct him, the little man doesn’t like it. As spectators we can laugh about it, but his parents are probably busy with it!

Of course we have not forgotten Kate’s health. It could well be that her current condition had an influence on the festivities. We sincerely hope that she has been able to continue her sweet tradition this year. But if that is not the case, we would like to believe that her husband William was baking a cake until the wee hours, nun?

The princess has certainly kept one tradition alive: the crown princely couple shared a sweet new photo of their son via their official Instagram page today.

After all the fuss surrounding the Photoshop gate and Kate’s medical problems, we would have fully understood if the Waleses had deviated from their sweet photo tradition this year. On the other hand, it is of course good to see that they have not been discouraged by the controversy.
Hopefully the family can enjoy their youngest child’s birthday today!
