For the state banquet in Germany, Queen Mathilde has packed one of her most beautiful evening dresses in her suitcase.
It is a velvet evening dress with a heart-shaped neckline and subtle embroidery at the sleeves, a design by Armani Prive. During the state banquet of French President Macron in November 2019, Mathilde wore it for the first time.
The embroidery is applied in degradé on the sleeves.
Although the dress code tonight is black tie, the queen – just like Queen Máxima on the same occasion in 2021 – will wear an evening dress and diadem. It concerns the Diadem of the Nine Provinces, which Astrid received from the Belgian population in 1925 because of her agreement to Leopold. This time a diamond diadem around her neck.
