Damiano David is the lead singer of the Italian rock band Måneskin, which won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. The band is a huge hit, but the singer has broader ambitions. He has announced a solo project.

Damiano David is the lead singer of Måneskin. The band won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with the song Zitti e Buoni. The band consists of four members, Damiano, Victoria, Ethan and Thomas. After their success at the Eurovision Song Contest, the band scored several hits. For example, their cover of the song Beggin’ became a huge hit on TikTok. The songs I Wanna Be Your Slave and MAMMAMIA were also big hits. The band was one of the headliners of the music festival Pinkpop in June of this year.
After all the success of the Italian band, vocalist Damiano has decided it’s time to start producing solo projects. He spoke candidly about this on the red carpet of the MTV VMAs. “I’ve been working for a long, long time on a new project and September 27 is the date of release so I would love everyone to stay tuned.” He also said that this project will be different from the work he has done with the band so far.

After the VMAs, Damiano shared a teaser for his new project on Instagram. In the video he posted, he is seen in a suit getting into a taxi. The driver asks him where he wants to go, and his answer is a simple “everywhere.” Damiano later posted a second teaser in which he says, “My name is Damiano David. I was born in 1999, Rome, Italy. I love music, arts and women. I love the feeling of beautiful clothes and the smell of a nice perfume. In my life I’ve been a thief, a liar, a lover, a shapeshifter. I travelled all around the world to find my voice, just to end up where everything’s started. My name is Damiano David and today is the first day of my life.”

Does this mean the end of Måneskin?
But, if the band’s singer goes solo, does this mean the end of Måneskin? According to Damiano himself, no. During the interview on the red carpet of the VMAs, he said that the band is also working on new material. “The band is great. We are going to work on stuff. Nothing is going to change.” Furthermore, Damiano is not the only band member doing solo work at the moment. Bassist Victoria recently released her first solo single in collaboration with singer Anitta called GET UP BITCH! (Shake Ya Ass).
