Meeting your new in-laws is a little nerve-racking for everyone. But when the Norwegian royals are your in-laws, there’s bound to be a little extra pressure. Still, 17-year-old Amalie looked remarkably relaxed as she made her debut as Prince Sverre Magnus’ new girlfriend this week.
With all the pomp and circumstance surrounding the event, it would almost go unnoticed, but at the wedding of Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett, Prince Sverre Magnus suddenly came up with an unexpected surprise: he showed up with a girlfriend on his arm! You would think it would be very exciting, but based on the photos, Amalie seems to feel completely at home in royal circles.

It probably didn’t escape your notice: last weekend the colorful princess Märtha Louise and her shaman Durek got married in the beautiful Geiranger in Norway. And a lot of royals were present, including of course Haakon and Mette-Marit with their two kids Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus.
But the company had brought someone else: Sverre’s girlfriend Amalie Giæver Macleod was also there! And that’s quite special, because the lovebirds have never appeared together at an official event before.
One thing is clear: the beautiful Amalie is already completely embraced by her in-laws. We secretly admire the very young Norwegian who seems to remain quite cool, calm, collected – despite the fact that she is in the spotlight for the whole world.

Mette-Marit also seems to consider her new daughter-in-law as part of the family. For the gala dinner in the evening, she lent her own gala dress to Amalie! The brunette wore the brown dress that Mette-Marit herself wore in 2002.

Amalie’s presence at the wedding of course indicates that it is serious business between her and the prince, but borrowing clothes from your mother-in-law speaks volumes. A good sign!
Who is Amalie?
According to insiders, Amalie Giæver Macleod and Sverre Magnus met at school. The seventeen-year-old was born in London, but she lives in Oslo. Although she is still young, the beauty is already working hard on her modeling career, and is registered with Team Models. The two have been spotted together before, but their relationship has not been confirmed anywhere.
It may still be early days, but we certainly hope this romance will last. For now, the couple looks very happy together!
