A state visit includes a state banquet. King Felipe and Queen Letizia shared a fork with Queen Margrethe, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary yesterday. The most beautiful dresses and most expensive diadems were shown.
Queen Margrethe, the hostess of the evening, graced the occasion in an evening dress by Birgitte Thaulow. The creation consists of a fitted bodice that ends well below the hip and a subtly flared skirt of emerald green lace.

The diamond and emerald diadem dates from 1840 and was given by King Christian VIII to his (second) wife Caroline Amalia of Augustenburg.
Queen Letizia
Queen Letizia, like the hostess, also wore a previously worn dress. Her dark blue robe with a flared skirt and rich embroidery is from Felipe Varela.

The (too?) imposing diadem is also called the Fleur de lys tiara. Unlike the more modest diadems from the royal collection, this jewel may only be worn by the Spanish queens. It was made in 1906 for Princess Victoria Eugenie, or Queen Ena.
Princess Mary
The Danish Crown Princess is wearing one of my favorite dresses. It is a richly embroidered robe by Lasse Spangenberg.

You may recognize the dress from the official portraits of the princess.

The Edwardian style diadem was recently purchased through an auction house for more than 8,000 euros. The jewel can also serve as a necklace.
