Almost every woman dreams of the miracle cure to look younger, but would rather not go under the knife or spend a fortune on it. Thanks to a few simple changes in your wardrobe or make-up bag, you will soon look several years younger. Forget about growing old with dignity! We want to look youthful and radiate that we are in the middle of life. But how much time and money, but especially effort, do you want to spend on yourself and your appearance? Unfortunately, looking good does not come naturally, especially now that we are getting older. Of course we have to do something for it. In this article I will show you 3 important parts you should pay attention to when buying clothes.
1. Which colors flatter you best?
With the right colors you complement your natural coloring. With the wrong colors it often happens that people see the colors first and then you. And that is of course not what you want…
The other way around is also possible. Someone with a strong personal coloring can look insignificant and boring in colors that are too pale or too light. Furthermore, by using your colors well you can draw attention to the strengths in your body. So that people, for example, look at your face first and not at your hips 😉
The reason why I had my first color analysis done 32 years ago is that I often thought I looked so dull and pale. My closet was full of clothes in all kinds of different colors and there was no common thread in them at all… Now that I know my colors, I never have to hesitate anymore. Since I started wearing the colors of the light summer palette, it is as if the pieces of the puzzle have completely fallen into place. To this day I am completely satisfied with my colors.
How easy is it that you can quickly see while shopping where the colors that suit you are available? This way you don’t have to unnecessarily try on clothes in colors that are unsuitable for you and you no longer come home with the wrong colors.
How much money you want to spend on your clothes is of course up to you. But if you want you can get by with much less money. Your wardrobe can be quite thinned out. Isn’t it nice that you can never make a mistake again?
You will also notice that you look fantastic in a simple, affordable blouse or sweater in one of your top colors.
Know which makeup colors complement you. Nowadays, unfortunately, your skin is no longer as fresh and fruity as it was when you were younger. Some make-up in fresh colors works wonders. When you know your colors you will be able to choose colors for your makeup very easily. With the right make-up colors you need less make-up.
Hair. Your natural hair color always matches your color palette perfectly, including gray hair. Coloring your hair is therefore no longer necessary.

Advice for my friend Hinke
Hinke spent two afternoons with me for free comprehensive advice. I advised her on: color, make-up, style and figure. This was on the condition that I could take pictures of her for social media.
^ Here Hinke arrives at my studio with a large suitcase of clothing and accessories. Things she loves and things she doubts (so-called ‘toppers’ and ‘floppers’). We will be working with these items during my advice.
Hinke was also unfortunately wrongly analyzed (just like me) and did not feel comfortable with her color palette. She was analyzed by a colleague as a cool summer type, but during the color analysis it turned out to be a warm spring type. She feels very happy in the warm spring colors!
^ Hinke is a warm spring type, as became clear from the color analysis I did with her. Here I have made up Hinke in warm colors. The spring type looks beautiful in colors that are warm, bright and light to medium dark.
Hinke’s hair was already colored in a warm blonde shade. That’s why I covered it during the color analysis. She has natural curls. Fortunately, this hair color was perfect for the warm spring type.
^ Hinke has blue eyes, but is really a warm spring. It is often thought that warm color types cannot have blue eyes, but that is definitely not true. For Hinke, the warmth in her skin was decisive. Her natural hair color is light blonde with a tiny bit of warmth.
^ This shiny gold suits Hinke beautifully. Shiny gold is the most beautiful metal color for the warm spring type.
^ Two colors from Hinke’s color palette. Coral and warm medium brown. They look great on Hinke.
^ This lipstick color suits Hinke perfectly.
^ Color: Hinke prefers outfits in calm, neutral colors. These shades, cream and camel, suit a warm spring type very well. However, it is nice for a warm spring type to keep the makeup a bit cheerful, because the warm spring type needs warm, bright , lighter colors. The make-up then brings some brightness to the face. It is also very nice to choose jewelry in colors from the color palette.
Figure: The models (the top a bit more fitted with wider trousers) also suit her very well. It shows her waist very well. This is very important for Hinke’s figure type (the 8-shaped figure).
Personal style: the style of this outfit also suits Hinke well (soft, feminine and romantic).
You will wear clothes that suit your color type, your figure type and your personal style often and with great pleasure.
^ Colors like coral and light orange are very nice colors for lipsticks (and also for blushers).
^ Hinke bought this beautiful lipstick from Sensai (number 2408) herself based on her color palette.
Better not do:
^ Hinke was under the impression for a while that she was a cool summer type, but the cool colors make her pale and a bit gray. She had purchased a number of items of clothing in cool colors, but did not feel happy at all in these colors.
^ Black also doesn’t really work for Hinke. The model of this dress fits her figure well.
^ These light blue colors don’t do much for Hinke either.
Figure: Josh V’s jacket isn’t fitted enough and the double-breasted button doesn’t suit her very well either. A double breasted closure makes her unnecessarily heavier than she is.
2. What is your figure shape?
^ I determine Hinke’s figure shape based on simple measurements. I also look at the face shape, length, build, etc.
^ Hinke has a figure of eight. With this figure type it is very important that you do not hide the waist. This jumpsuit, combined with a short jacket, suits her perfectly.
^ Here you can clearly see that Hinke has a beautiful waist.
^ I have made a complete figure passport for Hinke with loose pages in which she can find what she can and cannot do best.
Better not do:
^ This jacket is too straight for Hinke. Her beautiful waist falls away.
^ Loose clothing is very trendy at the moment. It doesn’t suit everyone equally. Hinke can handle quite a lot with her height. The pants are fine, but a nicely fitted jacket would have been much better.
3. What is your personal style.
^ Hinke really likes a feminine, romantic style. This dress fits perfectly with that. We also see one of Hinke’s strongest points (her beautiful waist) very well here. I added a color accent by combining this coral-colored bag (it is finished with gold).
The spring type needs warmth and brightness !
^ This dress also has a soft, romantic style. The colors also suit her very well. The length is slightly on the short side.
^ This collage really appealed to Hinke.
What else is important?
Maintain a good, healthy lifestyle. Think positively, keep making plans, keep your mind active, maintain friendships, keep moving, do muscle exercises, fresh air, good posture (shoulders low and chest forward), enough rest, healthy and moderate food, avoid stress, relax on time , do not smoke, consume alcohol sparingly and drink enough water.
You can become casually chic by choosing classic pieces that suit your body shape. Only buy what makes you younger, slimmer and hipper, otherwise leave it hanging. Buy less and buy good quality. Unfortunately, at our age we can no longer get away with all the ‘H&M items’. Their cheap fabrics are often unflattering, especially for women over seventeen. Also look for classic pieces that are slightly different due to, for example, the fabric, color, finish, lining, special buttons or exciting details.
