Yesterday we wrote about the brand new book Endgame, by royalty journalist Omid Scobie. This writer has been close to the Sussexes for years, and according to several leaked excerpts, the new publication could cause a lot of problems between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Windsors. Now, however, the Duke and Duchess are said to have distanced themselves from the upcoming book.

What was that again? Yesterday we shared that a new book by Omid Scobie will soon be published. This name may sound familiar to you: together with Carolyn Durand, he was responsible for the book Finding Freedom, about the relationship between Harry and Meghan and their eventual departure from the palace.
In his upcoming publication, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, several details would come to light about the difficult relationship between Harry, brother William, and father Charles. For example, leaked documents suggest that Harry was ‘completely alone’ after the death of his grandmother:
“The next morning, the Sussexes had no idea that Buckingham Palace was already planning for the Queen’s final hours, and the first days of the new era of the monarchy – until the Duke’s phone started ringing,” said Scobie .
Distance
The leaked excerpts came just as it appeared the Sussexes were looking to rekindle their bond with the Windsors. After a tough Oprah interview, a documentary series, and a memoir, H & M are said to have come to their senses and want to focus on restoring family ties. For example, they reportedly had a friendly telephone conversation with their father-in-law for his birthday last week, and sources reported that plans had already been made to speak again in the short term.
New revelations about mutual tensions would of course be disastrous for this tentative reconciliation. The MailOnline has said it has spoken to several ‘Sussex insiders’ who claim that Harry and Meghan are strongly distancing themselves from Scobie’s latest book.
What does Scobie say?
The author also understands that his leaked fragments will cause a stir. He has now responded via X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Let’s get this nonsense out the way,” he begins his message. “Endgame is about the current state of the British royal family. It’s not ‘Harry and Meghan’s book’, I’m not ‘Meghan’s mate’, the Sussexes have nothing to do with it, and their story is a small part of a much bigger picture, which you can read in twelve days’ time.”

Clearly! Now it remains to be hoped that the Windsors also believe that Harry and Meghan indeed had nothing to do with it. Because let’s face it, this reminds us a lot of the situation surrounding Finding Freedom. That book was also presented as an independent publication at the time, but it subsequently turned out that Meghan had passed on information to Scobie and Durand through the grapevine. We’ll no doubt have to wait for the release of Endgame for more information!
