Youth
Gwen was born in Veghel, Brabant, and grew up in Uden. At a young age she was interested in the dance scene, later she took up more modeling work for Ax and Bavaria, among others. At the age of 18 she moved to The Hague, and two years later she worked in a gym.
At the age of 22, she suffered from burnout. This motivated her to put more energy into personal growth, which is also the basis for her own podcast Met Z’n Allen.
In 2023, she got engaged to her boyfriend, who proposed to her in Sedona, Arizona, for a Burning Man festival. Unfortunately, the engagement broke off after three months and she has been single ever since.
Career
Gwen’s interest as a presenter began when she produced productions for festivals, club tours and events. That’s how she ended up at XITE in 2012. In 2014 she switched to BNN, where she started her career as a presenter. She became the regular face of Spuiten en Slikken and De Social Club.
Due to her rising fame, she made several appearances on TV shows, including Fort Boyard (2014), Roadtrippers (2016) and De Verraders (2022).
In 2022 she set up her own podcast, called Met Z’n Allen, where she invites famous guests every week to answer questions from anonymous listeners. The motivation behind this is to break taboos, including her burnout, so that the topics are honest and in depth. The #METZNALLEN community that she has built up now supports and motivates each other in meditation and self-development.
In September 2022 she published her first book, Feet in the socket, she goes into more detail about how she emerged from her burnout. It is a book full of motivation for self-love, putting yourself first, meditating, traveling alone and throwing some apps off your phone.
In June 2024 she will release another book: 33, A year in which I lost everything and have never felt so rich. This goes back to the year in which her engagement broke off after three months and she lost everything, but also literally lost all her belongings due to a mistake by a moving company.
The magazine FHM has named Gwen the Most Beautiful Woman in the Netherlands of 2024.
