See: Swedish royals shine in traditional costumes on National Day

Hurra for Sverige!

Yesterday was a big party in Sweden, because on June 6 the Swedes celebrate their national day. Of course, the royal family took action again presence, and traditionally they did so in style. No prom dresses, tiaras and stilettos, but real traditional costumes!

National Celebrations

The Zwoyals had quite a busy schedule. King Carl Gustaf and King Sylvia were scheduled to visit Pajala in Norrbotten County, where they attended the National Celebration and took a look at a local leather manufacturer.

Victoria’s task is also to give a speech during this ceremony. “Let us strive together for an even stronger and more inclusive country. A Sweden where everyone feels at home, a Sweden for which we all take responsibility,” said the Crown Princess.

Traditional costume

Later that day, fortunately, another reunion took place between all family members, who attended the official celebration in Stockholm. The group, including the young Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, arrived at the location in a procession with a horse and carriage. For this occasion, the female royals dressed in traditional Swedish costume, complete with a white headdress.

Later in the evening, the king and queen invited several parliamentarians, diplomats and other VIPs to a royal reception at the palace in Stockholm. And this too was not in gala dresses or designer gowns, but in the blue and yellow Sverigedräkten. Beautiful, nun?

Midsommar

As far as we are concerned, the Dutch can still learn something from this. Máxima and the A’s in traditional Dutch costume? Seems unique to us! Although we don’t want to miss the beautiful King’s Day outfits of our royal ladies…

Anyway – traditional costume or not, all in all it looks like the Swedes had a great time on the national holiday. Although many Swedish residents are secretly counting down to Midsommar (June 21, also known as the longest day), a holiday that is actually even more popular among the people than a national holiday.

In any case, for now we say: hipp hurra for Sverige!
