Never a dull moment in Monaco! After years of speculation by the tabloids about a divorce at court, they turned out to be almost right. It is not Charlene and Albert who have ended it, but reportedly their niece, Charlotte Casiraghi, has ended her marriage to Dimitri Rassam. And the icing on the cake is that she has even been spotted with another beau.

According to various insiders in the French tabloid circuit, there would really be a divorce in Monaco. At the end of January, the magazine Voici headlined with the words ‘It’s over’, and the couple is said to have been going through some kind of crisis for some time. According to the stories, it was Princess Caroline’s daughter who tied the knot in December.
The reason for the end of their fairy tale? According to Voici, the busy producer Dimitri’s agenda leaves little time for his wife and family. The magazine writes: “Dimitri, who has become one of the largest French producers, spends his time working. They had no family life and that was very difficult for her (Charlotte, ed.).”

Now another tabloid has published photos of Charlotte Casiraghi with a man they claim is her new flame. “The princess and the writer: love in broad daylight,” is what is printed in cow letters on the front page.
Who is this mysterious new lover? It is said to be Nicolas Mathieu, a French author who became known with several novels – including the Dutch-translated The Hopeless and Connemara. According to Paris Match, the two can hardly hide their happiness with each other, and they are regularly spotted on dates in Paris. Well, the city of love – what better way to get over your divorce with a poet by your side, nun?

Of course, we take all stories from the French tabloid press with a grain of salt. They also maintained for a very long time that there was trouble in paradise for Albert and Charlene, but we now know better.
Now that Charlene is making a comeback with a real charm offensive, could it be that the tabloids have simply set their sights on the next Monegasque princess? It wouldn’t surprise us.
For the time being, nothing has been confirmed from the Palais Princier about a possible divorce or new relationship. How exactly does the fork fit into the handle? We may never find out. Who knows what happens on the streets of Paris and behind the palace doors of Monaco!
