Fans of the film series can now rejoice! Jon Favreau (57) is once again dedicating himself to the Star Wars universe about the fight between good and evil. The filmmaker of the Disney remakes “The Jungle Book” and “Lion King” has already gained “Star Wars” experience. He has already directed the series The Mandalorian and “The Book of Boba Fett”. The new project based on the saga is now officially scheduled to hit theaters – this year should Jon start production.
The title “The Mandalorian & Grogu” is set to move on to the next round. The director shared his excitement with fans on the official “Star Wars” website: “I love telling stories set in the rich world created by George Lucas.” Also the Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy (70) can’t stop raving: “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have two new and popular characters in ‘star Wars‘ introduced and this new story fits perfectly on the big screen.”
It is currently uncertain when the film will be shown on the screen and which actors will star in it. Some stars would at least be open to returning – Natalie Portman (42), for example, does not rule out a comeback to the intergalactic world of the sci-fi classic.
