This will be the seventh grandchild for the grand ducal couple!
The Luxembourg Grand Ducal family has received a beautiful Christmas present in the run-up to the holidays: yesterday the court announced that Princess Alexandra, the only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, is happily pregnant!
Baby news
Last night, the Luxembourg royals shared the big news through an official message that they shared through various channels. A message on their official Instagram page reads: “Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess have the immense pleasure to announce that Princess Alexandra and Monsieur Nicolas Bagory are expecting their first child. The birth is expected in the spring.”
The court adds that the grand ducal couple and the rest of the family are of course very happy with this news.

This first offspring for Alexandra and Nicolas is of course not the first grandchild for Henri and María Teresa. This little one will soon have no fewer than five nephews and a niece to play with!
Happy family
It seems clear that Alexandra and Nicolas couldn’t wait to start their family. The couple got married this spring, of which we saw some beautiful photos. The wedding was also celebrated in two parts, as is often the case with the royals. First a civil ceremony was held where the princess showed up in a relatively casual pantsuit, and a week later followed the beautiful religious ceremony with all the pomp and circumstance we expect from a royal wedding.
Heir apparent?
It is expected that the upcoming royal offspring can grow up in a relatively sheltered environment. The little one will be seventh in line to the throne at birth, and will not have an official title, as the father here is simply a monsieur and not an Altesse Royale. Well, there’s something about it.
In any case, we wish the expectant parents the best of luck, and we are impatiently waiting to see the first pictures of the little one surrounded by all the loving uncles, aunts, and of course overjoyed grandparents!
