Everything was already planned. Gunther Emmerlich (79) had made a name for himself as an all-rounder on the German television landscape. He enjoyed many successes, especially as an opera singer and presenter. Only recently did sad news become public: the TV star died unexpectedly. His cause of death has now been determined. The opera singer died due to heart failure. Now it is known: Gunther had already planned the Christmas holidays with his family.
Just a few days before his death, the 79-year-old revealed on the talk show “Riverboat” what he actually planned to do during the holidays: He wanted to spend the festival of love with his children, his ten granddaughters and his two great-grandchildren. “I’m going on a tour. I’m not letting everyone come to me,” joked Gunther. Then he continued his plans: “On Christmas Eve I’ll be with my daughter with her three children and her husband. We’ll celebrate Christmas Eve there after we’ve been to church.” On Boxing Day he wanted to visit the rest of the family.
More details about his death are now known. According to his manager, Gunther suddenly complained of breathing difficulties in his house on Tuesday. However, when the rescue workers called by his son finally arrived, there was nothing more they could do for him. “When we arrived, Gunther Emmerlich was already dead. The official cause of death was heart failure,” the manager explains to Bild.
