While King Charles is very open about his medical problems, The Firm remains tight-lipped about what exactly is going on with Princess Kate. Yet today a rare statement was made – probably in response to the fuss surrounding Prince William. This is how it works.
Commemoration
An important memorial service was scheduled for the British royal family today. It has been more than a year since the last Greek monarch, King Constantine, died. Due to the close ties between the royal families, a commemoration of the deceased monarch was scheduled this morning in St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
There were numerous Euroyals present here, who had come to Windsor Castle especially for the service. The service was led by Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Mike and Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, and to everyone’s great surprise, Prince Andrew again showed their royal noses side by side with Duchess Sarah Ferguson.

In addition, of course, the family of the late King Constantine attended the service, including Queen Anne-Marie, Crown Prince Pavlos, Princess Marie-Chantal, and King Juan Carlos, Queen SofÃa, King Felipe and Queen Letizia came to the service from Spain. Princess Benedikt made an appearance from Denmark and Queen Noor of Jordan and Prince Kyril of Bulgaria were also among those present.
Major absentees
Of course, this morning King Charles was conspicuous by his absence. While he is undergoing treatment for his recent cancer diagnosis, he is resting as much as possible. In his place, Queen Camilla attended the service on behalf of the monarch.
But to everyone’s surprise, another senior royal failed to attend this morning. For example, Prince William announced at the last minute that he would not be present due to ‘personal circumstances’. The Prince of Wales reportedly spoke briefly with the Greek royals present before the service. It was also quickly agreed that the Greek Crown Prince Pavlos would deliver a lecture in Wills’ place.
The sudden cancellation of the Prince of Wales raised eyebrows among many royalty connoisseurs. For example, the late King Constantine is not only a close family friend of the Windsors, but he is also a second cousin of Charles. Constantijn was also one of William’s godparents. There must be a very good reason for Wills canceling so abruptly, right?
Worried about Kate?
With Princess Catherine still recovering from major abdominal surgery in January, speculation quickly grew as to whether William’s absence was due to a possible medical setback for the princess.
Yet it seems that Kensington Palace wants to contradict this. For example, the British court stated that Kate’s recovery is still going ‘well’. Furthermore, there was no mention of the reasons behind Williams’ cancellation.
