The princess was clearly pleased.
Ah, Monaco – the microstate of the mega-rich. When people decide to strike a charitable note, it is often accompanied by galas, haute culture, designer fashion… or in this case: champagne and oysters.
Benefit(s)
Where we used to sell stamps for charity, walk around the forest for Unicef or receive a heath for a job, in Monaco they approach things a little differently.
For example, the ‘Champagne & Oysters Cycling Club’ organizes an annual charity event, during which they ride from Saint Tropez to Monaco. After all, nothing says commitment to the world’s underprivileged like bubbles and exquisite snacks, nun?
The proceeds from the fund go to the Fondation Princesse Charlène de Monaco, and so Her Serene Highness, Princess Charlene herself, was not afraid to celebrate the happy ending with the cycling club upon arrival.
Street party
Naturally, the evening ended with a cheerful party. No designer gala or red carpet this time, but an exuberant street party. Here Char came to hang out with the cyclists present. They also included Charlene’s brother, Gareth Wittstock, and the wealthy Irish businessman and presenter Eddie Jordan.
Among all these spandex-clad sports heroes, the princess made an appearance in a relatively casual outfit. She combined classic blue jeans with a snow-white blouse. She wore a Loro Piana cape and a set of pumps with a subtle block heel from Manolo Blahnik. Stylish, casual, and classic!

Foundation Princesse Charlène
Through her Fondation, Her Highness has been committed to safety on and around the water for many years. After all, the princess herself has had a career as a professional swimmer, and during her professional days she also worked as a volunteer lifeguard. Through her own charity, she now supports all kinds of projects and organizations that can achieve this on a larger scale. A sporty extravaganza like today is right up her alley!
