‘Maybe I wouldn’t have been there anymore’
Patty Brard is currently completely healthy and in shape, but that has not always been this way. Some time ago she experienced many struggles with her weight and had to drastically change her lifestyle in order to grow old healthily.
Gastric reduction
In 2018, Patty underwent a necessary gastric bypass operation, or stomach reduction. “In my case I also wanted it, because I had an esophageal hernia. I always had that acid,” she says in Aran on Tour. She also decided to cut back considerably on alcohol. “I think: you do something with your life that is quite drastic, then you have to do something for it yourself.”
Happiness in life
According to Patty, the drastic change in lifestyle combined with the stomach reduction has ensured that she is still alive to this day. “Maybe I wouldn’t have been there anymore,” she says. “I was pretty unhealthy, huh?! I was prediabetic. So almost diabetes. My brother died from diabetes.” It also affected her happiness in life at the time. “At one point I weighed 97 kilos. Then I really thought: if I reach 100, I’ll grab a rope. I just couldn’t get it off.”
Patty’s Panther Party
Fortunately, the diva is now doing very well. To celebrate, she is organizing Patty’s Panther Party in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on March 15, 2025. Patty came up with the idea to organize the party through the Videoland premiere of the series PATTY, in which her life is re-enacted. Everyone was dressed then with a ‘touch of panther’. “And then I knew for sure: next year I will be throwing my own Panther Party that everyone can attend,” says the diva.
So we can prepare for an evening of panther, glitter & glamor and a handful of artists. Roxeanne Hazes, Anita Meyer and Robin S., among others, will take the stage. We can’t wait!
