Glamial’s viewing tips

Get the popcorn ready!

Whether you have just finished a last glass of bubbly or have already enthusiastically started your good intentions in the gym: the first week of 2024 is over! To start the year quietly, we are not listing endless parties and activities this time, but the best viewing tips to stay at home. Enjoy!

Insidious: The Red Door – January 6 – Netflix

Now that the days are short and the nights are long, this is of course the time to curl up on the couch with a horror movie. Starting this weekend you can therefore enjoy the fifth and final part of the Insidious film series.

In this final chapter of the horror franchise, characters Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Dalton Lambert (Ty Wilkins) must once again battle their demons and face their family’s dark history.

Insidious: The Red Door can be seen on Netflix from January 6.

Cristóbal Balenciaga – January 19 – Disney+

Disney+’s very first Spanish-language historical drama focuses on none other than Cristóbal Balenciaga – a role played by Spanish actor Alberto San Juan. The series begins at the time of Balenciaga’s first Paris couture collection in 1937. Although he achieved fame in his home country of Spain with his ateliers in Madrid and San Sebastian, his designs in Paris at Chanel, Dior, and Givenchy were less successful.

The series is packed with familiar faces: actress Belén Cuesta plays the future Queen of Belgium, Fabiola de Mora y Aragón, and includes Coco Chanel (played by Anouk Grinberg), Christian Dior (Patrie Thibaud) and Audrey Hepburn (Anna-Victoire). Olivier) in review.

The first season of Cristóbal Balenciaga has six episodes and can be seen on Disney+ from January 19.

No Hard Feelings – January 18 – Netflix

You probably know it: your offspring is growing up and has to slowly stand on their own two feet, but… they don’t really know how to pull themselves away from the couch yet, and in terms of life experience there are still a few things to check off. Percy’s parents, played by Andrew Barth Feldman, can relate. Laird (Matthew Broderick) and Allison (Laura Benanti) are a pair of first-class helicopter parents, and therefore place an advertisement: please, someone would like to date their son – for a generous fee, of course.

Young Maddie (Jennifer Lawrence) works as an Uber driver, but gets into serious trouble when her car is towed. When she sees the ad, it seems like a match made in heaven. With her good looks and confident personality, she thinks she will win over Percy in no time, but things turn out a little differently.

No Hard Feelings can be seen on Netflix from January 18.

Classics

As of January 1, many classic film hits have also appeared on streaming services. For example, Prime Video has added the romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral and the hits Groundhog Day to its range. On Videoland you can now enjoy Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, and the wonderful Bohemian Rhapsody, which of course revolves around the band Queen – with Rami Malek in the leading role of Freddy Mercury.

Would you rather swoon over a good dose of historical romance? Then you’re in the right place on SkyShowtime, because the film Anna Karenina (starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is now being shown there.

In short: plenty of fun to keep you entertained in between all your big plans and good intentions!
