The Meran/Merano area is one of the most varied regions in the Alpine region. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, spring starts early here. The valley is then in bloom and the smell of apple blossom greets you, with impressive mountain ranges and snow-capped peaks in the background.
With all that culinary enjoyment, it is a good thing that this area is also ideal for sporting activities, such as a leisurely walk or a bike ride over the rolling hills. And then afterwards enjoy la dolce vita with an ice cream or aperitif with the first rays of sunshine on your face. Merano itself is a city with flair, full of shopping and walking promenades such as the 800-year-old Laubengasse shopping street. The area is also known for the many medicinal thermal baths and spas.

3X Hiking
The Waalwegen
The Waalwegen, paths along old irrigation canals, are highly recommended. You will find them in the villages around Merano, for example in Lana, Marling/Marlengo and Schenna/Scena. The routes are easy to navigate and provide beautiful panoramic views. In spring, the scenery is further enhanced by the blooming apple trees. Themed walks
Also nice: the themed walks, such as the Apple trail in Dorf Tirol/Tirolo, along the apple orchards. Or the Wine trail in Algund/Lagundo, an educational walk through – of course – vineyards, near Plars Castle.
Partschin’s waterfall
From the center of Partschins/Parcines you can walk to this beautiful waterfall in about an hour and a half, the most beautiful in the Alpine region. Particularly impressive at the beginning of summer when the snow melts and plunges into the depths at a rate of 6,000 liters per second.
