A special trend for autumn!
The temperatures are dropping, the mittens are coming on, and the pants? They go out. In any case, that is what we are increasingly spotting on the catwalks and with hip street style influencers. Glamial will tell you all about the pantsless trend that seems to be slowly but surely conquering the fashion world.
Mini, micro, missing
Of course you could wait for it: in recent years skirts went from mini to micro – even items that most resembled an oversized belt. This trend is of course not for everyone, but looks that we saw at Miu Miu and Diesel, among others, proved to be as popular as ever.
Shorts also became shorter and shorter, and today most booty shorts are more booty than short. This trend now appears to have continued to its logical conclusion: because trousers? These are completely optional.
Celebrities such as Hailey Bieber and sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner were spotted without pants:

Former The Crown actress Emma Corrin wore this matching set from Miu Miu in Venice this year, which most resembles a (admittedly: very luxurious) brief with a matching cardigan.

It is immediately noticeable that the two looks are very different from each other. For example, the Jenner scion wears a nice oversized blouse to protect her derriere a little from the paparazzi, and Corrin opts for thin tights with her designer briefs.
Inspiration
We started sniffing around for more inspiration regarding the pantsless trend. It was striking that many fashion influencers are still keeping it relatively quiet for the time being. No pants? No problem – but an ultra-long coat to cover you up a bit, please.

However, this does not apply to everyone. For example, blogger Camille Charrière opts for a cheeks to the wind approach in a matching set with a gray blazer and ultra-short pants that barely cover anything.

If you are still unsure whether this trend is for you, you can also opt for a compromise by wearing lace trousers. This way you have almost as much leg on display, but it doesn’t look like you simply forgot your pants.

Trend cycle
Of course, trends reemerge every few decades, and this is no exception. Vogue writes that this look can be traced back to the 1950s and 1960s. We originally saw the pantsless trend as a kind of dancewear, and the fashion-conscious mod teenagers of the sixties walked away en masse with the pantsless looks.
The trend was already experiencing a revival in the 1980s with the popularity of aerobics. After all, who doesn’t remember the legendary Jane Fonda in her high-cut leotard? And now the trend is back again – this time not in the gym, but in the streets. We will reconsider the trend this summer, but for now we will stick to warm trousers or an elegant skirt.
