The internet loves cute animals. This is evident again after two super cute baby animals went completely viral on TikTok. It concerns Moo Deng the hippopotamus and Pesto the penguin.
Moo Deng the hippopotamus
Moo Deng is a pygmy hippopotamus. She lives at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand. The zoo posted photos of the newborn animal on their Facebook page and the internet went wild. This is largely because Moo Deng is a lot more playful than other pygmy hippos. Photos and videos of the animal are going viral on social media. It shows her running around, biting her caregiver or playing with water. Moo Deng was born in July this year, which currently makes her less than three months old. Because she has gone so viral, more visitors have come to the zoo to admire the animal. Unfortunately, this also has disadvantages. Visitors throw water or even objects at Moo Deng. Because guests cannot behave and because of the crowds, the zoo has now imposed a time limit for viewing the animal. You can now continue to look at the animal for a maximum of five minutes. Moo Deng has a huge impact, this week she was involved in a broadcast of Saturday Night Live in which cast member Bowen Yang did a skit in a hippo suit where he played the baby hippo.

Pesto the penguin
And then there is Pesto the penguin. The animal is a king penguin from Australia. He lives at Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium. Pesto was the very first baby penguin born at the aquarium since 2022. After hatching in January this year, he weighed 200 grams. During a livestream from the aquarium in September, Pesto already weighed 21 kilos. Which is huge for a king penguin his age. He is therefore the largest king penguin chick that has ever lived in the aquarium. Pesto is 90 centimeters long and currently weighs 22.5 kilos. According to the aquarium, Pesto is so big because of his genes, which he got from his father, the largest penguin in the entire aquarium. Like Moo Deng, Pesto is getting a lot of attention online. He is popular because of his size and has become a meme on TikTok. Pesto is a worldwide sensation. Singer Katy Perry even visited him recently!
