All eyes were on the princess in radiant blue.
Yesterday the time finally came: Princess Amalia’s debut at the state banquet. And what a stunning impression the princess has left!
State banquet
The Spanish royal couple Felipe and Letizia are currently on a state visit to the Netherlands, which of course includes the traditional state banquet. The bond between the Dutch and Spanish royal families is strong.
“Spain has a special place in our hearts. First, because our life together started in Spain. A visit to Spain always feels like a warm bath. Not only for us, but also for our eldest daughter: the Princess of Orange,” says King Willem-Alexander in his speech. He is referring to the support that the Spanish family has been for the princess in the last year.
Stay in Madrid
It will not have escaped anyone’s attention that the royal family went through a difficult time last year. The threats that Princess Amalia received meant that the princess could no longer study safely in Amsterdam, and therefore stayed in Madrid for a while. Here the princess could safely continue her studies.
King Willem-Alexander thanked the Spanish royal couple for their efforts over the past year. “Last year, circumstances required Amalia to live in Madrid. From there she was able to continue her studies at the University of Amsterdam. This was made possible by the kind efforts of many of your countrymen and yourself. A moving proof of friendship in a difficult time. I would like to express my sincere thanks to you and everyone who helped arrange this,” the king said.
Debutante Amalia
But the princess is back with a vengeance. And how! All eyes were of course on Amalia. Not only because she made her debut, but also because she simply looked phenomenal. The debutante wore a beautiful dark blue dress with a transparent cape. A beautiful match with the red accents of the Peacock Tail parure jewelry set! The princess wore the beautiful tiara and the necklace with all its chic rubies. The beautiful pieces were made in 1897 for Wilhelmina, who would be honored the following year. Now Amalia was allowed to wear the beautiful set, and they look so good on our princess. She completed her look with earrings from the Mellerio parure.
The other royals were also dressed in blue. Queen Maxima wore a light blue gown by Jan Taminiau and the show-stopping Stuart tiara. The queen looked absolutely stunning, and the sense of pride in her daughter as a debutante certainly contributed to this! Princess Beatrix was also present at her granddaughter’s debut. She wore her velvet dress from Prinsjesdag 2002, together with the diamond bandeau. The Spanish Queen Letizia wore a beautiful deep blue dress from The 2nd Skin Co with beautiful tied details.
It looks like both our Dutch royal family and the Spanish royal family enjoyed the evening. Willem-Alexander, Maxima and Beatrix were smiling from ear to ear this entire evening. They were visibly proud of debutante Amalia. And completely justified if you ask us.
