The news of the death of popular series actor Alfio De Benedictis shocked fans yesterday. The actor appeared on Berlin – Tag & Nacht from 2011 to 2017. The Rheinfelden native was part of the original cast of the scripted reality series and often made viewers laugh in his role as Fabrizio di Marco. The cause of death is still unknown – however, Alfio had struggled with heart problems in the past!
“It actually started with pneumonia that was hidden. […] My lungs filled with blood,” he told Glamial three years ago. The tattoo lover was then taken to the hospital and was in a coma for almost four days! During a follow-up check, Alfio’s family doctor discovered that his left heart valve only was still functioning at 20 percent! Due to his health condition, the TV star was no longer able to pursue his job. “I was extremely depressed, so I almost lost my will to live,” he reported in the Bunte interview in 2020.
BTN colleague Pia Tillmann (37) also commented on Alfio’s death on Instagram: “I am shocked and sad, but it was a matter of time that this information came. Even if your heart was big, it already worked for ours Starting times at BTN are not always smooth.”
