We can’t ignore it, Queen Máxima always looks the part. How does she achieve that? We share her three styling rules.
Makeup
Máxima has beautiful eyes, and she wants to make them look as big as possible. She uses a certain make-up method for this. Make-up artist Mari van de Ven tells more about it: “It is very important to darken the area above your eye, in the arcade arch. That makes your eye a lot bigger. We certainly also take the area under the eye into account, here too it is important to allow it to transition more and more from dark to light.”

Clothing
Máxima of course has a lot of clothes to look nice on any occasion, but still different from the times before. In total there are more than 800 different outfits in her closet and more are added every year. To avoid having to spend hours shopping, Máxima has a number of permanent addresses. One of these is the fashion house NATAN, which always makes the most beautiful dresses for her.

Hats
Our Máxima is the Queen when it comes to hats. At every appearance she manages to amaze us with the chosen creations. Yet the wind blows sometimes, but we never manage to catch her in an oh-no-my-hat-is-blowing-off blunder.

Máxima’s hat designer, Fabienne Delvigne, reveals the secret. “They really shouldn’t let the wind blow away. Of course, we make sure that they stay in place properly. But Queen Máxima herself has also found something great about it.” Hat pins are said to be ‘the best tool’. “Like our grandmothers used to use. At the Dutch court they have many beautiful hat pins. That is why it is now back in fashion as an accessory to attach the hat,” says the designer.
