But at the end of October, the perfect image seemed to crumble – the Australian-born husband was spotted quite intimately with another woman in Madrid. The Danish royal palace left the affair rumors uncommented. But Mary seems to break her silence and taunt Frederik.
The mother of four shared thoughtful lines on the Instagram profile of her “Mary Fonden” foundation. “Time is a strange thing. The more years you have passed, the faster the next year seems to pass,” Mary begins her Christmas greeting. Behind the words there seems to be a clear message about Frederik. “The transition to the new year is always an opportunity to pause and appreciate everything that has happened over the course of the year,” the 51-year-old added.
It’s clear to her fans: Mary is alluding to the cheating allegations. “I think this is a sad year for Mary, her husband’s betrayal and the fact that it is public,” one user wrote under the post. Another user also showed her compassion for Mary: “Beautiful words from a woman who is suffering so much herself at this time. God bless this woman.”
