Preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest can start again, because the Netherlands’ entry has been announced. Next year, musician Joost Klein will represent our small country in Malmö, Sweden. Louisa Janssen shares part of the Eurovision Song Contest entry

Mia & Dion’s loss during last year’s Eurovision Song Contest is probably still remembered. Not necessarily because of the loss, but especially because of what many consider to be an unsuitable singing duo. Although opinions differ on this. In any case, things were made a little more difficult for the selection committee. They had to look even more critically at the next Eurovision entry. And that is certainly not what Real Girls star Louisa Janssen turned out to be. This was to the disappointment of the reality star, who, like 599 other artists, would have liked it.

She does have a serious chance, because her voice is certainly not bad. And her entry also appears to be Eurovision-worthy, we now hear on her Instagram. She does post a piece of her entry there and her followers respond full of praise. “What a great song,” singer Samantha Steenwijk compliments the reality star, while another writes: “How is it possible that you were not chosen, beautiful song and voice. Wow.”

Despite losing the preliminary round, Louisa has not lost her fighting spirit. She wants to try again next year, she writes. Below you can listen to Louisa’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest:

Joost Klein to Eurovision Song Contest

Unfortunately for Louisa and her followers, she was not chosen by the Eurovision Song Contest selection committee. In addition, singer Numidia, Ilse DeLange and Karsu did not make it, who were mentioned by the popular radio station 538. Who will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö? Well, none other than the 26-year-old musician Joost Klein from Friesland! Wait, who? The name may not sound very familiar to everyone, but it appears to be quite popular. For example, last summer Joost performed on the main stage of Lowlands, at Pinkpop and his two concerts in AFAS Live were sold out. In addition, 25,000 listeners of NPO 3FM have signed a petition to get Joost to the Eurovision Song Contest. A big dream of Joost, which has now come true. Wow! Although, according to the selection committee, this petition had “zero influence” on the choice.

According to Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen, chairman of the selection committee, Joost’s entry has the most “hit potential”. In addition, they think that the creative Joost will put on a “great act and positively surprise the Netherlands and Europe”. According to Twan, in his Eurovision song Joost you hear his “well-known combination of party and nostalgia”

“Dream come true”

As said, it is “a dream come true” for Joost. He says he will “do everything he can to achieve the best result”. His Eurovision Song Contest entry will be announced at a later date. The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest will then take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, after which the second semi-final will follow on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The grand final will then take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
