“I regularly burst into tears,” said the king.
Since King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, he has received many messages of support and well wishes. Last Wednesday, the king therefore spoke out for the first time about all the messages he receives.
High ranking visitors at Buckingham Palace
Last Wednesday afternoon marked the first time, since Charles’ cancer diagnosis, that he welcomed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to Buckingham Palace for the weekly audience. The British media images show that the Prime Minister thought the king ‘looked good’. However, this is not the first time the two spoke again. They had weekly contact with each other on the telephone.
Big smile
Although Charles has stepped down from much of his royal duties to focus on his treatments, he has not stopped working completely. And looking at the king’s big smile during the prime minister’s visit, he is only too happy with that.
Moved to tears
However, the meeting with the Prime Minister was not the only thing we saw from the King. This is how he spoke for the first time on screen – a month – after the disturbing news. He says that he has received ‘so many great messages and cards’ lately. “I regularly burst into tears,” he revealed.
Queen Camilla previously said that her husband was very touched by all the well wishes since his cancer diagnosis: “He is very touched by all the letters and messages that everyone sends him.” Prince William has also previously spoken out about the expressions of support. “It means a lot to all of us,” he said.
