Princess Anne causes hilarity with a cake

“If I cut the cake, you guys have to eat it!”

Now that both King Charles and Princess Catherine are out of the running at the Windsors, all eyes are on the other British royals carrying out their royal duties. A tired-looking Prince William thanked the public for all the expressions of support. However, Anne, Princess Royal, had the laughs yesterday and impressed with her wonderful sense of humor.

Go-getter

As the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth, Princess Anne has always impressed with her go-getter mentality. Year after year she tops the lists as the busiest royal and with her down-to-earth attitude, the 73-year-old lady is extremely popular among the British.

Although she normally carries out her royal duties out of the spotlight, Buckingham Palace yesterday invited the press to join the princess in a visit to a local riding school. Well, with two senior royals in the fold, someone has to take on that media responsibility.

Cake

Fortunately, Anne doesn’t shy away from that. At the Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre, the princess provides a hilarious moment when cutting the cake. “I hope you all had a chance to look at this cake because it is absolutely beautiful,” the princess said.

When she then picks up a knife, the princess decides to call the shots in addition to cake: “The instructions are: you will eat it when I cut it.” Well, who dares to argue with that?

HKH continues: “Otherwise it is just legalized vandalism. Enjoy it!” Wise words, which from now on we will apply to every cake we see.

Riding school

The visit to the Pony Center was entirely dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the association. This is committed, among other things, to helping children with different types of challenges through equestrian sports. The princess, who was of course also a great horse lover, had words of praise for the driving force behind the organization, Sister Mary Joy.

“We owe her our gratitude for her dedication here. (…) All the things that have happened here are proof of how well she understands the people and the ponies and the horses that work with them. There really is no one who understands that better.”

Naturally, her highness also makes time to chat about one of her favorite topics. For example, actor Martin Clunes, also chairman of the British Horse Society, said: “We were just chatting about horses. I just bought a new one three weeks ago that I wanted to talk to her about.”

Cake and horse fun: that sounds like a great distraction from the worries surrounding Charles and Kate!
