Have you ever suffered from bed bugs? This creature is mainly active at night and mainly enters infected rooms. They crawl into bed or into your suitcase. As soon as you unpack your luggage at home, the bed bugs slowly spread. But how do you get rid of these creatures? We’ll tell you!
Bed bugs
But what exactly is a bed bug? It is a parasitic insect and belongs to the so-called ‘bugs’. They used to be also known as the bedbug. They come in a wide variety of colors, from white to red-brown. They have six dirty legs. During the day, these creatures hide in all kinds of nooks and crannies in your house. They only really emerge in the evening and night. While you sleep soundly, they will suck your blood. Bah!
The bite
How do we actually recognize a bedbug bite? You can recognize the spot by a bump that starts to itch a lot, but fortunately it goes away on its own. The bite often goes away after a few weeks. You don’t have to do anything else for this. The bite actually looks very similar to a mosquito bite and is not dangerous or harmful to your health. Just be careful not to scratch! They can then ignite. If the itching gets bad and the bumps start to spread, please call your doctor.
Prevent
Bed bugs can settle almost anywhere, but mainly in beds, clothes and used furniture. This way you can take the animals with you from your hotel or pick them up on public transport. So always pay close attention when you sleep in a hotel! Check the beds and especially the mattress. Make sure your belongings are not right against the wall or on the floor. Be sure to check whether there are any bed bugs in your second-hand clothing, furniture or belongings.
What to do?
But what can we do about these miserable creatures? We can tell you one thing, fighting bed bugs is a difficult job. You can recognize bedbug feces by the brown or black spots on your sheets or mattresses, for example. Unfortunately, you cannot get rid of the bugs yourself. Therefore, always hire a company that can combat them. Then let your room air out for two hours before going back in. Do not clean or vacuum the room in question for the first week.
But what can you do yourself? To get bed bugs out of your bedding, wash at 60 degrees or even hotter. Dry your bedding in the dryer and iron everything as hot as possible. A pest controller will often come by within a few weeks to check your home. A second treatment is generally necessary to completely eradicate the bugs…
