Is there hope for a new tour after all?
It has been quiet around singer Céline Dion for a long time. Two years ago it was announced that the singer suffers from stiff person syndrome. This rare disease is an incurable condition that causes them to suffer a lot from stiffness and spasms. Living with the disease requires a lot of attention from the My Heart Will Go On singer, but she certainly does not give up.
Intensive therapies
The Canadian icon announced the sad news two years ago in a video message. The singer had been thwarted by her health for a long time, and a series of disappointments followed for both the singer and her fans when she had to cancel several tours. From that moment on, the singer disappeared from the spotlight to focus on her health. We had to do without her for a long time, but now she shares what her life has been like. She does intensive physiotherapy five days a week, working on her knees, calves and fingers. And as befits a singer through and through, she also works hard to maintain her singing and voice.
The condition may be incurable, but the intensive therapies seem to have a good effect. We see the singer appearing in public again more often, such as at sports competitions and even the Grammys, accompanied by her son. “It was very exciting, but at the same time a great honor. The magic, the excitement of seeing the fans, the crowd and showbiz again. It took me a lot of effort, but my son Renè-Charles gave me a lot of support,” said the singer. How wonderful that she was able to experience this moment.
Come back
Will we see the icon on stage again? Only time will tell. “My body will determine that. But there is one thing that will never stop and that is the will. It’s my passion, my dream, my determination. I will see the Eiffel Tower again one day,” the singer sounds persistent. With this last detail, the singer seems to hint at the tour that she had to cancel in 2019.
The documentary I Am: Céline Dion will be released on June 25, which will be about her incredibly successful career, but also the health problems the singer faces. A great prospect because we have of course missed the singer terribly since she disappeared from the spotlight. Secretly, very secretly, we hope that the documentary might contain an announcement that the singer is fit enough to tour again. But that’s just speculation, until then we can only dream about it.
