Nowadays, many young, but also older people suffer from their mental health. Yet there is still a taboo on this. It remains a difficult subject, but it is important to learn more about it. That is why presenter Johnny de Mol wants to make a new TV program about, in this case, young people with mental problems.
Johnny de Mol makes a TV program about mental health
It was quiet for a moment around presenter Johnny de Mol, because there was a case about alleged sexual abuse and assault. Now that the lawsuit has been dropped due to lack of evidence, Johnny slowly resumes his TV work. Since last summer he has been presenting the SBS6 program De Kwis met Ballen. In addition, he is apparently working on a whole new TV program about an important subject. Johnny tells the ANP that he wants to make a TV program about mental health. Interesting! “This is one of those topics that I would like to stick my neck out for,” he says.
Nowadays, more and more people, both young and older, are suffering from their mental health. Nevertheless, there is still a taboo on mental problems. That is why Johnny thinks it is important to pay attention to this in a TV program.
Breaking taboo
With his new TV program, Johnny also wants to break the taboo about mental health. “You see young people falling by the wayside because they have a burnout or are overstimulated,” he says. “The problem is really so much bigger than it was five or 10 years ago.” With TV programs such as Down with Johnny and SynDROOM, he seems to be a very suitable presenter for such a TV program with another vulnerable target group. He also indicates that he will certainly take the time for the TV program. “You can’t just say: we’ll just do it,” he explains. “Caution is advised. So if we don’t finish until a season later, that’s completely fine.”
This actually goes against the current laws of the TV world, where everything has to happen quickly. Yet in this case he likes to be contrary. It is currently unknown when the new TV program will be broadcast. There is a chance that it will be for SBS6. Johnny is currently under contract with this TV channel.
