FC Bayern Munich pays its tribute! On Monday evening, sad news made the rounds: Franz Beckenbauer (✝78) died. The football icon had been having health problems for several years and fell asleep forever at the weekend surrounded by his loved ones. The sadness is great – numerous fans, friends and colleagues from the sports world express their regret to the emperor. So does his old club: Thomas Tuchel (50) organizes the Bayern training with mourning ribbon.
As Bild reports, FC Bayern Munich held a secret training session on Tuesday afternoon. Some information leaked out anyway: the record champions’ players, including coach Thomas, wore a black bandage on their upper arms – a mourning ribbon for the late legend. A red and white bouquet of flowers with a candle also commemorates Franz in front of the entrance to the club headquarters.
In his career he could Franz achieve some success. At the age of 18 he was allowed to play for the first team for the first time FC Bayern Munich accrue. This was the start of his stellar career – over the next 13 years he scored 60 goals as a professional for Bayern, became German champion, DFB Cup winner and European Cup winner. His work in the national team was equally successful: he scored 14 goals Franz in the Germany jersey, became a record player and not only won the European Championship in 1972, but also the World Championship with the team in 1974.
