What was supposed to be an April Fool’s joke quickly grew into something much bigger.
1001 Arabian Nights, Cowboy, Ch!pz in Black, and so on: pop group Ch!pz could no longer be left out of the charts in 2003 and 2004. However, the popular group came to an end in 2011. But what does the foursome actually do today?

In 2003 and 2004 the hits just kept coming for the music group Ch!pz. And it became clear in 2022 that they are real bangers. Then suddenly an oldie from the group went viral on TikTok – yes, even Kim Kardashian and North West danced to 1001 Arabian Nights.
The group consists of Cilla Niekoop, Rachelle van den Hoogen, Peter Rost and Kevin Hellenbrand. Unfortunately, the foursome decided to stop as a group in 2011, which made it seem for a while as if Ch!pz was over. All members were young and especially curious about what else they had to offer besides Ch!pz. “Everything ran on Ch!pz for eight years,” Cilla said earlier.
April Fool’s joke
But did we actually have to say goodbye to the group? None of that is true. For example, the group announced in 2018 that they had a performance in the Ziggo Dome. Many fans were immediately very enthusiastic. And although it was ultimately an April Fool’s joke, one thing was immediately clear: Ch!pz had to come back.
Although it was not exactly the Ziggo Dome, it was a Halloween festival in the Brabanthallen where the group was allowed to perform again after seven years. And to say this was a huge success is an understatement. The group’s diehard fans have now also gotten a bit older, but that doesn’t stop them from singing along at the top of their lungs to the hits from 2003 and 2004. But besides the fact that the fans have gotten older, something else has changed. Social media suddenly plays a very important role. And that turned out well for the pop group, because their song 1001 Arabian Nights went completely viral in 2022.
What is the group currently doing?
The group is now completely hot and happening again and there is also a lot of interest from abroad, Cilla explains. “At that time, in the first round of Ch!pz, we also released our music in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and a few other countries. Those people didn’t actually know that we were back and they now see that through those TikTok videos.

And the fact that the pop group’s agenda is already packed can be seen on their official website. They have had bookings secured throughout the Netherlands for almost the entire year. There’s a good chance that you will definitely see Ch!pz again this year!
