Do you still recognize him?
Queen Máxima has been faithful to her long blonde locks for years. Sometimes a shade lighter or darker, a layer more or less or a creative application, but rarely with a real splash. Except for the pony.
2005
We also call it the Alexia pony. Not because Máxima’s hairstyle looks exactly like her second daughter, but because she adopted this hairstyle for herself around the birth of Princess Alexia. In the summer of 2005, (then still Princess) Máxima went through life with full, straight bangs, but she soon exchanged them for a slanted one.

Hat hack
The bangs had mixed reception, if we have anything to say about the Queen’s hairstyle. As long as she feels good about it, right? The pony was probably not exactly Máxima’s cup of tea, because within a few months she also kissed the slanting pony goodbye. As handy as royal: once you get tired of that pony, you can easily hide it under a hat.

Although our queen has long been a fan of a slanted lock (a bit of that pony effect), lately she prefers a parting just off the middle, and especially one that is nice and low-maintenance. Let the just-out-of-bed look, combined with the Dutch wind, do its work. A lot less work than having your bangs trimmed every week, so we understand the queen. Or do you miss that pony from nineteen years ago?
