Do the Oranjes have the coffee ready yet?
Want to visit the neighbors? That was a piece of cake, the Belgian royal couple must have thought. Tomorrow, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde will be guests in The Hague for a flash visit to the Netherlands.
Good neighbor
Belgium and the Netherlands of course have the necessary similarities – also when it comes to the royal families. It is quite common knowledge that our King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima get along very well with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians. Amalia was also spotted next to Prince Emmanuel and Princess Elisabeth for a visit to the Giorgio Armani fashion show in Venice.
You may expect that the visit of the Belgian royal couple will take place for a cup of coffee in the palace, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Belgian business
Tomorrow the royal couple will visit the Europol organization. This organization functions as a European police agency and focuses on tracking down all kinds of serious criminals and preventing cybercrime, terrorism, human trafficking, and more that cannot tolerate the light of day.
Here they will be informed, among other things, about how Europol works and talk to various Belgian employees of the agency. During their visit, Their Majesties will be accompanied by Annelies Verlinden, the Belgian Minister of the Interior, Institutional Reforms and Democratic Renewal.
Visit
Although we think it is a shame that no new snapshots will appear of Math and Máx in matching outfits this time, it would of course have been very soon for a new visit between the Belgian monarchs and the Oranges. For example, Willem-Alexander and Máxima went on a state visit to Belgium together last summer. Our royal couple was shown around Brussels, Waterloo, Leuven, and Antwerp, among others. The highlight was of course this fairytale combination of the two queens next to each other during the state banquet.
The Belgian royal couple themselves also visited the Netherlands in 2019, when they were present side by side with the Oranges at a celebration of 75 years of freedom in Terneuzen.
Oh well, who knows, maybe you can have a cup of coffee with Wim-Lex and the daughters outside the program? Máxima will in any case not be present due to her presence in Colombia. Better luck next time!
