A reader question came in about Máxima’s make-up. Ingrid emailed: “Hi Josine, Máxima often has smokey eyes. Does she also use colored eye shadow?”
Máxima has indeed already gone through many palettes of brown eye shadow. Even on informal work visits, her eyes are always covered in a light dusting of make-up. After all, photographers’ professional cameras flash away more than half of the flash.
Eye shadow in the color of the clothing is unique for Máxima, but it does happen. Sometimes we see a hint of purple in her eyes with a purple outfit, but the rainbows that Beatrix was known for are not for her.
During the Caribbean trip in early 2023, I saw a hint of bright blue on Máxima’s eyelids.
So yes, it happens that Máxima wears colored eye shadow, but her preference is (dark) brown and black.
