“The fact that they can do this together is very important.”
Being prepared from birth to become a king or fulfill your duties as a princess or prince is not easy. William and Kate’s offspring are going through it, but luckily they have each other. Fortunately, the three kids have a good bond, where the two eldest in particular support each other in their role as princesses or in becoming kings.
As normal as possible
A few hours after their birth, they were already photographed by countless international photographers. Their first day of school makes headlines. The clothes they wear then fly off the shelves. Although Prince William and Princess Kate try to give their three children as normal a life as possible, the fact remains that as a young prince or princess you do not have an average life.
The Waleses try to keep things very ‘normal’ for Prince George (10 years old), Princess Charlotte (8 years old) and Prince Louis (5 years old) by rarely taking the children to royal duties and sending them to public school ( a very expensive one, it must be said) and to photograph them themselves, so that no photographers have to visit. Very slowly, William and Kate are now giving their eldest two a taste of life as a working royal. And Prince George and Princess Charlotte would find a lot of support in each other.
Strong bond
When we see Wills and Kate’s children in public, it is usually Prince George and Princess Charlotte. They went on tour as babies and occasionally appeared at public events. This gives them a taste of life in the spotlight. Prince Louis stayed at home more often, but we now see the youngest of the couple passing by more and more, such as at the Christmas service last winter.
When Louis is not there, according to child psychologist Dr. Alison McClymont is happy that Prince George and Princess Charlotte at least have each other. “They have a unique existence. Very few people can understand the scrutiny or responsibilities they face,” she tells Express (via Marie Claire). “The fact that they can do this together and that they can share the joys and burdens of this role is of great importance.”
A bit of education
That’s why it’s so good that Prince William and Princess Kate often have their children appear together on the royal stage. “Kate and William are very protective as parents, and they are both aware of the challenges that come with being in the public eye,” McClymont continues. “William knows what this is like at a young age, so he wants to ensure that they can share this experience and prevent them from being overwhelmed at a young age.”
“William has strong opinions about the media and the attention they draw to the royal family. He is understandably protective of his children and wants to make them as comfortable as possible, while also understanding the preparation needed for their future roles.”
