The auction house Julien’s is able to sell a dress that Diana wore to a Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concert in Florence in 1985 for a particularly high price. The black glitter dress with the blue ballerina skirt is said to have sold for around one million euros. According to People, the purchase price is eleven times higher than the estimated value of around 91,270 euros. This sets a new record: the most expensive of Diana’s dresses to date was a purple evening dress that went under the hammer at the beginning of the year for around 551,000 euros.
But not only these two items of clothing were sold in 2023. The blouse that the mother of Prince William (41) and Prince Harry (39) wore on the occasion of their engagement also changed hands. “Princess Diana’s engagement blouse transcends fashion. It is a poignant symbol of love, grace and a timeless moment in history,” the chairman of the auction house told the New York Post.
