Sustainable washing

Once you have brought a few cotton pearls into your home, you naturally want to ensure that they last as long as possible. The best way to ensure this is to wash your cotton shirts, socks, pillowcases and briefs wisely.

1. Stain check

Sorting your laundry by color – almost all of us do that. But let’s be honest: we don’t always feel like checking all the clothes one by one before we put them in the washing machine. However, this is recommended! By smartly pre-treating stubborn stains, you avoid having to wash your clothes more often than necessary. Just think: if a pimple appears on your peach skin, wouldn’t you opt for a spot treatment instead of an intense skincare treatment?

2. Was sensible

We mentioned it above, but your cotton will simply last longer if you wash it less often. That is why the following applies: only wash when absolutely necessary, inside out, and at a lower temperature. Most washing machines have an eco mode to make this as easy as possible.

In addition, it will not surprise you that washing with a full drum is a lot more sustainable (and therefore cheaper for the wallet) than turning on a washing machine with just a single t-shirt. What you may not know, however: the friction of the different cotton items against each other also helps your laundry to clean better. Smart!

3. Faint with folds

Do you put your towels neatly folded in the cupboard? By rolling up your towels you reduce the friction of the fabric, making it last longer. An extra nice bonus: this gives your linen cupboard a luxurious hotel look. Who wouldn’t want that?
