There is a suitable bob for everyone.
Whether it’s because of an intense break-up or because a new season has started: sometimes it’s just time for a new, short haircut. But before you put the scissors to your locks, it is nice to know whether a certain hairstyle suits your face. Hairstylist Justin Hickox tells you exactly which short hairstyles will make your face shine the most.
1. Round face: the lobe

For a round face it is best to go for a lob: a long bob. Celebrities like Selena Gomez and Zendaya have already done it. According to Justin Hickox, a lob works less well for elongated faces because “if you have a longer face, due to the actual length of a lob, it can tend to make your face even longer.” Please note: to show off the lobe as best as possible, a full head of hair is essential. So if you don’t want to use volume-creating products every day, it’s better to skip this hair trend for fine, thin hair.
2. Oblong face: chin-length bob

A chin-length bob works best for a long face. “It tends to make your face look a little fuller,” says Hickox. The same goes for your locks: if you have finer hair, it may look thicker in this cut.
3. Oval face: gratuated bob

The gratuated bob has no specific length, but is mainly characterized by the way it is layered. At the back of the head the bob is short here, and the further forward, the longer the locks become. According to Hickox, this hairstyle works best with an oval face, because it optically ‘lifts’ the face.
All face shapes: one-length bob

If you want to try a shorter haircut but don’t want to go too crazy with layers, the one-length bob is a good option. The good news is that this hairstyle suits all face shapes. In terms of hair type, the bob is most suitable for ladies with medium to thin hair. According to Hickox, curly heads are better off opting for a bob with layers.
