Danish King Frederik and Queen Mary have now had more than two months to get used to their new titles. And with such a promotion comes a new set of responsibilities. On Monday evening, the royal couple had the honor of hosting such an important event in full regalia for the first time!
Royal dinner
Once per reign, an important dinner is on the agenda of the Danish royals: the so-called Statsråds afternoon. This is a unique dinner with the Danish Council of State, just like our Oranges offer the members of the Council of State a dinner every two years.
In Denmark, these dinners generally take place once per reign in January. Anyway: with Margrethe’s resignation, things have been moved by a few months this time. And as far as we’re concerned, it was worth the wait, because the royal couple looks radiant in the snaps of the big evening!

Queen Mary is posing here in an outfit by purveyor Malene Birger, which consists of a stylish black top with a boat neck and a skirt that features a shiny, metallic fringe from head to toe that seems to consist of endless shiny coins.
The experts behind the Royal Fashion Police have managed to identify the skirt as one that Mary already wore in 2019 and 2007. It has now been about seventeen years, but we have to admit: we think Mary can recycle this dress many more times! To complete her look, Mary wore some pieces from the ruby parure, although she left out the floral tiara this time.
By the way, we would also like to highlight the outfit of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. In her golden gown by designer Jesper Høvring, the politician beamed at the cameras during the photo moment on the steps of the palace.
Hopefully we will see many more of these wonderful glam moments from Mary in the near future!
