“Shhh, don’t tell anyone,” said the prince.
Getting an autograph from a royal is a big dream for most people. But did you know that members of the British royal family are not allowed to do this at all? Kate previously revealed that she is not allowed to sign ‘due to the rules’. The princess is creative and therefore regularly comes up with a good alternative to make her fans happy. William on the other hand? He recently flouted the royal rule!
Signature
During her surprise visit to the Chelsea Flower Show in London last year, Princess Kate was asked if she wanted to sign something for a young fan. And although that seems like a small effort, it is a little different for the British royals.
“I can’t write my name,” Kate told her young fan. But of course that does not mean that the princess was not allowed to write anything down. “But, I can draw something.” Kate reportedly drew a beautiful flower for the 7-year-old girl. And of course the other children also wanted a drawing of the princess, so she drew a tree and a pond for two other children.
Daredevil William
Yet rules are meant to be broken, or so William must have thought recently. Earlier this month, the prince openly broke royal rule when he visited a world-famous beach in Cornwall.
As he paraded across Fistral Beach he made a little boy’s day. Nine-year-old Phoenix Kanes asked the prince if he would sign the plaster cast on his broken arm. Daredevil William agreed and told him, “Shhh, don’t tell anyone. I’m not supposed to do that!”

People are of course curious why the royals are not allowed to sign autographs and Kate previously provided a definitive answer. “My full name is Catherine, but I am not allowed to sign anything. That’s one of the rules,” she explained. It then became clear that the royals are not allowed to sign signatures because they could possibly be forged. And that is something that should of course not happen. Anyway, we – together with William – trust the young Phoenix with his blue eyes!
