The Prince Friso Engineering Award has now existed for 10 years! Like every year, Princess Mabel and Princess Beatrix were present at the ceremony last night.
Princess Mabel also took her mother with her. She called Beatrix back because she also wanted a photo with her mother: Nice for Mother’s Day ;).
Who is eligible for prize? Engineers who distinguish themselves in expertise, innovative capacity, social impact and entrepreneurship. The winner can call themselves Engineer of the Year for a year. The prize is awarded by the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI). With the annual prizes, KIVI wants to make engineers and their work visible. At the suggestion of Princess Mabel, the KIVI Engineering Student Team Award was set up in 2022. This year, the prize was once again awarded to the student team that distinguishes itself in the four competencies: team spirit, innovative power, social impact and expertise. The prize was awarded this year at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

Princess Beatrix wore a simple dark blue trouser suit. Outside she wore a matching dark blue cape with pompoms over it. Princess Mabel’s mother also wears a dark blue trouser suit. Princess Mabel herself was seen in a black pantsuit with gold-colored sequins. A design by the Belgian designer Dries van Noten.
