Chanel delves into the archives
Anyone who takes one look at the Chanel catwalk will first spot a set of large headgear. The choice of all these impressive hats is a subtle nod to the very beginnings of the fashion house: in the early twentieth century, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel opened a hat shop on the now legendary Rue Cambon. A few years later she opened her own shop in the seaside resort of Deauville where she also sold clothing.
“Deauville is where it all started for the House,” shares Creative Director Virginie Viard. “This story is close to my heart.” Especially for the presentation of their Fall-Winter 2024/25 collection, Chanel recreated the Deauville promenade on large screens, where models paraded past to show the new collection to the fashion lovers present.

Romance at its finest
For the clothing, Chanel was inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s own wardrobe and by the ‘subtle elegance of a winter stay by the sea’. From classic peacoats and soft ruffles to robust tweed and sturdy leather: this autumn collection has something for everyone.
We also see the love for Deauville reflected in the colors and prints. The soft pink, orange and purple tones are based on the sunset over the sea. We also spotted some sweet chunky knits featuring the Deauville landscape.

We also see a number of the iconic Chanel bags and a series of stylish boots going down the catwalk.
“It is a very warm collection, with layers of materials, colors, and volume. It is a tribute to Deauville, the legendary place where Gabrielle Chanel’s destiny changed forever,” Chanel wrote.
