It just depends on what reason you would like to use an eye cream.
Ingredients
It is sometimes thought that an eye cream is a waste of money and that other care products work fine around the eyes. But are those assumptions correct? At Stylist says skincare expert Abigail Williams more about it. “Most eye creams have the same basic ingredients like facial moisturizers, but they are formulated with specific ingredients to address common complaints around the eyes.”
Does this mean you need a special product for your eyes? Not necessarily. “Most facial moisturizers are suitable for the area under your eyes and you don’t necessarily have to a separate product necessary,” says dermatologist Dr. Anjali Mahto. “In general, you can use a product around your eyes if it is suitable for your face.”
Combat aging
An eye cream is not necessary, but it can’t hurt either. So to what extent could you notice results if you use an eye cream? Dr. Mahto explains that you have to remain realistic in your expectations. “No amount of eye cream will improve age-related ailments like sagging eyelids, no matter what the product promises.”
Dr. Mahto emphasizes that in that case it is better to invest in a good SPF. “The skin around the eyes is sensitive to sun damage and a moisturizer can temporarily rid the skin of fine lines, but applying SPF around your skin is vital to prevent premature aging.”
Still use it
Although the above isn’t really one strong case makes for eye cream, applying such a cream can have its advantages. “What eye creams cannot do is remove fine lines, wrinkles, bags under the eyes and drooping eyelids. But with the right eye cream you can reduce signs of fatigue, dullness and dehydration lines,” says skin expert Nicolas Travis. So that’s how it is!
